ITS Testing

ITS Testing

RPA has completed the first round of customer testing, using an annual Dublin Bus and Luas ticket on operational Dublin Bus and Luas services. Staff and customers tested the annual Dublin Bus and Luas ticket on an integrated smart card.

All Luas red and green line services and some Dublin Bus services were equipped to accept the test cards:

  • When using Luas, testers used the validator on the platform to touch-on before every journey and touch-off after every journey.
  • When using Dublin Bus, testers used the validator on the right hand side of the door to touch-on when entering the bus at the start of the journey only.

The test was largely successful and identified some issues which are being addressed for the next round of customer testing which is due to commence during the summer. This final round of testing will test the pay as you go element of the ITS smart card before the card goes on sale to the general public.
