Luas Bray / Fassaroe (Line B2)

Phase 5: Construction

At this phase, RPA contractors and sub-contractors will begin to physically construct the approved light rail line.

Stage 1: Utility Diversions

The first stage of construction is the diversions of utilities; this means moving the pipes and cables where the Luas track is to be located.

Stage 2: Bridge Construction

Any structures such as bridges or underpasses need to be in place before the track construction starts.

Stage 3: Track Construction

Once areas are prepared construction of the Luas track bed and the laying of the Luas tracks will start.

Stage 4: Stop Construction

Once the track bed is complete and the tracks have been laid the Luas stops are built. This can also happen at the same time as the track construction.

Stage 5: Electrical and Mechanical Works

Once the track and stops are built the next stage is the works involved in supplying power and necessary control systems to the line.

Stage 6: Testing and Commissioning

At this stage the Luas line in construction will look like a functioning Luas line but all systems have to be tested. From time to time you may see Luas trams on the line testing the systems.

Stage 7: Commencement of Operations

Once pre-operational safety testing is complete the line will be opened to the public and will form part of the extended Luas Green Line.

Construction works on Luas Bray/Fassaroe will be carried-out based on the design drawings for the alignment and on an agreed schedule between RPA and its contractors.
