Luas Cherrywood (Luas B1)

Phase 4: Build & Operation Permission

Following several years of planning and consultation RPA submitted a Railway Order Application for Luas Cherrywood on 7th November 2005. This was followed by a Public Inquiry in March 2006 and the Minister for Transport signed the Railway Order on 14th August 2006 providing the necessary powers to construct, operate and maintain the line. The Railway Order became enforceable on 24th January 2007.

The granting of the railway order paved the way to putting the necessary contracts in place to ensure the efficient development of Luas Cherrywood following competitive tendering.

All of the work being carried out on Luas Cherrywood is in accordance with the final approved plans and the Railway Order.

A significant portion of the cost of Luas Cherrywood is being met by contributions from developers under agreements reached with RPA and monies raised through planning levy schemes put in place by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
