Landscape Architectural Design Overview

In overall design terms the materials, finish and aesthetic features of Luas have been established to a high standard through the existing Red and Green Lines. Stop layouts and equipment have been through a process of design development involving many stakeholders. Consistency with the existing layouts, furniture and landscaping configuration is important in terms of ensuring ease of use, familiarity for all including people with mobility and sensory impairments and in maintaining a recognisable Luas Brand.

Landscape Architecture plays a vital role in creating and maintaining the high design standards of Luas for existing and new RPA Luas and Metro projects. Stop location, context and design as well as surface creation form essential functions in the delivery of a safe, comfortable, reliable and environmentally friendly light rail transport system for Dublin.

RPA has set goals to achieve within the design policy for this area of a Luas or Metro system. These are outlined clearly on the Landscape Architectural Design Policy page.
